Opened in 1990, Oxford House was the third home in the JT Care Homes group and has grown to provide care for up to 24 older adults. Set in the heart of Fulwood, Preston, we offer high-quality residential care in a warm, homely environment where comfort, safety, and dignity come first.
Most rooms are single occupancy with en-suite toilet and washing facilities, plus emergency nurse call systems for added peace of mind.
Refurbished over the years to now offer over 66% ground floor accommodation — ideal for those with mobility needs.
We care for up to 24 elderly residents aged 65 and over, supporting a wide range of age-related needs with warmth and respect.
Situated on Garstang Road with excellent road and public transport links — perfect for regular family visits.
At Oxford House, each resident has their own private bedroom — a space to relax, feel safe, and call their own. All rooms come with en-suite toilet and washing facilities, and many offer extra features such as wet rooms, fridges, and tea/coffee making facilities. Larger rooms are available for wheelchair users, and all are equipped with an emergency nurse call system.
Families are encouraged to help personalise the space with familiar items, creating a comforting and familiar setting for their loved one. With just 24 residents, Oxford House maintains a close-knit, homely atmosphere where each individual is known, valued, and truly cared for.
All prospective residents are fully assessed by our Home Manager prior to admission to establish that their needs can be met within our home. This assessment is used as the basis for future care planning which is an ongoing process following admission to Oxford House. Care plans are created by the management team in consultation with the resident, their relatives and other medical professionals.
Each resident’s care plan will include a description of their preferred daily routine, their likes and dislikes in relation to food and any special dietary, health or personal needs. It will also address the issues of dignity, privacy and respect and what this means to the resident in terms of daily behaviour and actions. In addition the care plan includes a risk assessment and management plan. Finally it includes details of residents’ social interests and hobbies and how these are met.
Every resident is allocated a key worker who will become their primary point of contact. The aim is to create a rapport between the resident and staff member so that the resident feels secure that all their needs can be met.
The home maintains good relationships with all local healthcare agencies and social services departments enabling us to access any services that may be required by a resident, for example, chiropody, speech therapy or physiotherapy. Residents are encouraged to remain with their existing GP if at all possible as this maintains continuity of care.
